One of my favourite climbs was taking a group up the bridge, where the ages ranged from an 8-year-old to an 89-year-old! At both ends of the spectrum, there was excitement and nerves beforehand, scared of the unknown and that they wouldn’t quite make it. But once on the bridge and taking it all in they both absolutely loved it! Seeing their faces light up was so rewarding and encouragement from the rest of the group – I really love how this is an experience for everyone to enjoy.

One of my favourite climbs I’ve ever done was lead a tour that had a young lady on who was petrified of heights. With tears in her eyes, she refused to return down because she was determined to reach the top, to be where her father proposed to her mother years ago. At the end, she did it, and was beyond grateful of doing so.

Taking a large group of Taiwanese adventurers up the bridge was an exhilarating challenge right from the start. The moment we realized that our words were lost in translation, it was clear that this climb would be unlike any other. We stood there, a little awkward, surrounded by the spectacular views and a language barrier. But soon, the universal language of gestures, laughter, and shared excitement took over. Each step brought more confidence, and before long, our group was a cohesive unit, communicating through laughter and the shared thrill of the climb. By the time we reached the summit, the night sky was
dazzling, and so was the camaraderie. What began as an awkward encounter had transformed into an unforgettable, fun-filled night climb.

The first time I led a climb with just two people, it was a new couple, head over heels in love. We had the bridge to ourselves, allowing for a wonderfully intimate moment. They got to enjoy my favorite spot on the Bridge together, making it truly special.

It’s hard to pick just one climb but my favourites always include an element of surprise. Whether that be a rainbow or random fireworks in the distance, a whole city cat waving at you, or a gender reveal or marriage proposal below us. Being on the bridge and experiencing something already spectacular at a different angle and levitation just makes the moment so much more magical and feels like a special secret memory that I get to share with my climb group and cherish forever.

I absolutely love seeing people start the climb with butterflies in their stomachs. I chat with them along the way, and it’s such a joy to see their faces light up when they reach the top. Like the time there was this quiet, nervous man – we even waved to his mum down in the park. The smile that brought to his face was unforgettable! These moments make the climb truly special.

My favorite climb experience was an impromptu fireworks show during NAIDOC Week while I was at the top. The sky lit up in vibrant colors, celebrating Indigenous culture and heritage. It was an unexpected and magical moment, making the climb even more memorable and reminding me of the joy and surprises that come with each adventure.

I was the climber leader for a wedding held at the peak of the bridge, it was a transcendent experience. Being at such a unique vantage point, amidst the sky and river, allowed me to play an integral role in the couple’s extraordinary day. Witnessing their love bloom against the breathtaking backdrop was both humbling and exhilarating, creating memories as enduring as the structure itself. The joy of contributing to their celebration, surrounded by panoramic views, was a beautiful reminder of the heights love can reach and the uncharted paths it can traverse.

As I’m sure most people say the same thing, it truly is hard to pick a favourite story. Every group of people I lead are different with their own characters and humour. However, if I had to pick the best one yet it would probably be when I filmed a proposal which happened to be the same week I got signed off as a climb leader. The sheer love in the couples’ eyes and the way they held each other at the top was so beautiful and that was before he even got down on one knee. I was absolutely terrified of messing up this special moment, but it all turned out perfect.
